Marilyn Minter
Marilyn Minter (b. 1948, Shreveport, Louisiana; lives in New York) uses photography, painting and video to create photorealistic works of women expanding the boundaries of the female body depicted in popular culture. “For centuries, male artists have fed us images of the female form. Does it change the meaning when a woman produces sexual imagery?,” she states. Detailed images of female body parts, hair and feet are depicted in unconventional ways to express a women’s sexuality and desire that reclaims the female body.
