This series by German – Mexican artist combines precious metal leaf with raw spray-painted gestures. Two lines—red or black—intersect to form a cross, evoking both minimalist composition and spiritual symbolism. The contrast between refined materials and impulsive mark-making reflects a tension between faith and doubt, permanence and immediacy. Each work stands as a quiet yet powerful meditation on belief and form.

Stefan Brüggemann

Stefan Brüggemann (born 1975, Mexico City) is a contemporary Mexican artist renowned for his conceptual, text-driven works that span painting, sculpture, video, and installation. Operating between Mexico City, London, and Ibiza, his practice fuses the philosophical depth of Conceptualism with the aesthetics of Minimalism, all underscored by a punk-inflected sensibility.

Brüggemann’s art interrogates the role of language in modern society, often employing provocative and ironic text to critique cultural and political narratives. His installations challenge viewers to reflect on themes of appropriation, displacement, and the erosion of meaning in an age saturated with information.

His works have been exhibited internationally, including at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Kunsthalle Bern, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. Brüggemann is represented by galleries such as Hauser & Wirth, Kotaro Nukaga, and FF Projects, and his pieces are part of esteemed collections like MACBA in Barcelona and the Margulies Collection in Miami.
