American-Dutch artist Peter Schuyff has often expressed that he likes to surround himself with his paintings, that an abundance of them keep him warm.
Inspired by that sentiment, JRP|Editions is thrilled to present 20 Hours, a limited-edition wool blanket.

Peter Schuyff made a name for himself in the 1980’s with his unique approach to abstract painting that he continues to develop today. In his work he combines generic abstract motifs combined with classical, pre-Modern techniques to create very strong light effects. As his daily work involves painting hundreds of layers of transparent colors in a quasi meditative state, he’s inclined to quantify this process. Thus the title of the painting he used to create this blanket is 20 Hours.

Snuggle yourself in this work of art, carefully crafted to capture the spirit of Schuyff’s artistry.

Peter Schuyff

Peter Schuyff (b. 1958, Baarn, Netherlands) is a prominent member of the Neo-Geo movement that emerged in New York in the 1980s.

Born in the Netherlands, he later moved to the United States, where he made a name forhimself with his unique approach to painting. His work is characterised by his use of geometric shapes and his ability to create light and movement by applying thin layers of acrylic paint. As one of the most innovative artists of his generation, Schyuff continues to push the boundaries of abstract art, exploring new techniques and concepts.

In 2017 Le Consortium, Dijon, presented ‘Has Been’ a retrospective of Schuyff’s work made between 1981-89. His more recent public exhibitions include Whitney Biennial, New York (2014); New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York (2005); and The Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, Ridgefield, US (1996). Schuyff’s work can be found in the permanent collections of MOMA, New York: MOCA, LA; Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and The Fisher Landau Foundation, New York.

Schuyff lives and works in both Amsterdam, NL and Bari, IT.
