First monograph
This American artist uses the strangeness of her own culture as well as the Swiss culture where she lived and worked for some years. She copies situations and objects from local folklore to reveal the uncanny that lies just beyond the banal. Each time reality is rebuilt as a background. All her works exploit the idea of the vernacular, but in particular the idea of standard representation.
The sculptures, installations, and drawings by the New York-based artist (*1971) are presented in this first monograph as a journey through the American suburban imagination.
