Artist's book
This project by artist, singer, curator, and visual poet Boris Ondreicka is in fact two books in one: “John Doe & Joe Bloggs” is a long poem, laid out in a portrait-oriented format, while “Hi! Lo.” is constituted by experimental texts—i.e., in the terms of the artist, “autonomous artworks, theoretical performances, list of titles, etc.”—put together in a landscape format. Created between 1994 and today, the diagrams, schemes, drawings, sketches, poems, and other elements are an improbable collection of projects using the page as site.
Boris Ondreicka (*1969, lives in Bratislava, SK) has exhibited his works in Manifesta 2 in Luxembourg; “Generation Z” at P.S.1/MoMA (New York); the Venice Biennale; Mumok, Secession, and TBA21 in Vienna; the Kölnischer and Frankfurter Kunstverein; Le Plateau (Paris); and De Appel (Amsterdam); among other venues. As a curator he has worked with Lois & Franziska Weinberger, Jef Geys, Carl Michael von Hausswollf, Franz Pomassl, Denisa Lehockà, Stano Filko, Jiri Kovanda, Jùlius Koller, and many others. He co-curated Manifesta 8 in Murcia, Cartagena, in 2010.
Eighth volume of the “Tranzit” series edited by Vit Havranek and focusing on Central and Eastern European artists.
